Everyone has heard in the news that tomatoes are being pulled off the shelves and are being banned in some restaurants due to the recent salmonella scare. So I was confident with the knowledge that I was growing tomatoes in my garden. At least we would have "some" tomatoes. So soon enough, there it was - the first tomato. Justin wanted to pick it and I said to wait another day thinking it would get bigger.
So the next day we go out to get the now scarce commodity and what do you know - something had eaten most of it. All that was left was a quarter of it. I wonder if it was those raccoons that came the other night - or maybe it was the rabbits that come to visit - or the squirrels - we have lots of them -Birds-well I don't think birds eat tomatoes but I could be wrong. We have tons of other wildlife such as chipmunks that come around from time to time. Maybe one of them was the guilty culprit.
Very disappointing. So now we have our eye on another tomato that is just about ready to be picked. Will we get to it before the thief? We'll see.
